Mahama, NDC Must Be Charged For Contempt Of Court – Mireku Duker
Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) must be charged with contempt for wasting the Supreme Court’s time with their petition.
Speaking on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo’, he noted that the NDC have adopted tactics to intentionally waste the court and everybody’s time.
”The NDC is intentionally wasting our time and the time of the Supreme Court. I feel they must be charged for contempt because, when you look at the code of conduct of lawyers, you can’t waste the court’s time. It’s part of your ethics; so what I’m saying, I mean it. They must charge them and award cost to it as well. Because you have gone through a profession where you’re taught that don’t waste court’s time and you’re wasting their time is contempt of court,” he was quoted by peacefmonline.

Senior Member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, says former President John Dramani Mahama’s election petition goes against the essence of petitions.
According to Mr Otchere-Datko, who is a cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the will of Ghanaians, which is not what petitions are meant for.
In a Twitter post, he said Mr Mahama is calling on the court to declare a verdict in his favour based on an error by the Electoral Commission which has been corrected since.
