The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has said Mr. John Mahama doesn’t respect the people of Aflao including their Paramount Chief, Torgbuiga Amenya Fiti.
Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi was reacting to calls by the former President on the government of President Akufo-Addo tp give roads in Ho-Aflao an urgent attention.
According to Wontumionline, Chairman Wontumi stated that in October 2016, former President John Mahama “lied” to Ghanaians that he had built more roads than any government and touted the Aflao road as his achievement.
Chairman Wontumi therefore wondered what might have driven Mr. Mahama to now turnaround and call on President Akufo-Addo’s government to work on the same road he claimed he had fixed.
“It is obvious John Mahama doesn’t respect the people of Aflao and their Paramount Chief, Torgbuiga Amenya Fiti. I believe he attended the Godigbe Festival after gulping half bottle of his whiskey. He thinks Ghanaians have forgotten the things he said in 2016 so when he gets an opportunity to talk, he just adds to the lies he has said in the past”, Chairman Wontumi said.
Mr Mahama said Aflao, being the most prominent border town in Ghana, required a facelift for a better outlook.
“I had talks with our prominent Paramount Chief, Torgbuiga Amenya Fiti, when I was in office. In fact, we had agreed that due to the strategic location of Aflao as the most prominent border town in the country, there should be a modern market on the Aflao side just as with our counterparts on other side in Lome,” he said.
But Chairman Wontumi insisted that it is a lie. He maintained that when Mr. Mahama had the power as President, he could have changed things around if he really cared about the people of Aflao.
