The Chief Justice, chairing the panel of seven justices that are hearing the 2020 election petition have issued a warning to Mr Frank Davies, one of the lawyers of President Akufo-Addo to be mindful of the interviews he grants to the press after every court day.

Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah warned Mr Davies that it is against the law for lawyers participating in a case to grant interview on a case that is still before the court.

Rule 38 talks about lawyers who are involved in a case or has participated in a matter that is still pending in court.

The rule states that they [lawyers] “shall not make an out of court statement or grant an interview to the media on the matter.”

Referring to Rule 38, the Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah told Mr Davies that some of his comments violate the ethics of the legal profession.

“The court was not comfortable with the interviews that you [Davies] grant outside,” Justice Anin Yeboah said.

The Chief Justice also warned that any lawyer who wishes to grant any interview after the court must first remove their robe and wig before doing so.
