I’m Not Desperate For An Award – Piesie Esther Replies George Quaye

Piesie Esther, a gospel musician, claims that she is not as driven to win Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) as some would have you believe.

Other Gospel musicians from all around the country, like Joe Mettle, who belongs to the same category as the musician, have been actively supporting the campaign in the last few weeks leading up to the big event.

But in a contentious remark regarding the ongoing campaign by the gospel fraternity, prominent media and entertainment figure George Nii Armah Quaye claimed that gospel musicians are swaying the VGMA Board in favor of Piesie Esther winning the prized award.

However, in response to the assertion, Piesie Esther firmly declared that the accusation by George Quaye cannot be accepted and added that she is not yearning for an award in an interview with Power FM.

“We are doing this to demonstrate our admiration for the proceedings and our happiness if we succeed. But it sounds like we’re desperate to win from the way he phrased it. Trust me, I’m not trying to get the award by any means necessary. Esther Piesie said.

She claims that she has already received the award spiritually from God.

She added that the campaign is a means for her to use her music to share the Gospel, particularly in locations where people may not be familiar with her.

Piesie Esther faces off against artists including Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi, and Joe Mettle in the VGMA’s Artist of the Year category.

With her song “Wa Ye Me Yie,” which has also earned her seven nominations at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), she is currently getting widespread broadcast on both traditional and social media.
