‘I’m Embarrassed’ – NPP’s Nana Akomea Admits Failed Promises, Economic Mess Under Akufo-Addo

Nana Akomea, a former Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he’s embarrassed some promises made by the party has largely remained unfulfilled.

Reacting to the recent hardship and rise in the standard of living, Nana Akomea said he cannot speak to the issues because they embarrass him.

“It’s a very simple explanation, you have to ask those who are in charge. Because the things we said we will do they are sectors and there are people in charge. There are people in charge of agriculture, there are people in charge of Trade and Industry, and there were people in charge of agriculture that we said they were not doing well anytime when food prices went up. There were people in charge of finance and anytime the cedi fell we said they were incompetent and there are people in charge of finance now.

Someone sent me something last week and I laughed. They said Nana Akomea said the government was going to pay rent and now we can’t find him. We will do aluta against him because we can’t pay our rent. I didn’t communicate those things on my behalf. This is what the manifesto said we will do so probably if you want to know what’s happening to the rent promise you have to go to the Ministry in charge of rent or in charge of housing. When I come and sit here and you play pronouncement been made I’m embarrassed because these are not propaganda. These are things that we said,” he said on Accra-based Metro TV.
