Kufour Endorses Family And Friends Gov’t; Says He Would Have Been A Fool Without Them

Published

on

Former President John Agyekum Kufour has stated that he would have made a fool of himself if he hadn’t entrusted some positions in his government to family and friends.

Speaking on Asaase radio, he noted that being a president it’s important you work with people you can trust but have competence. To him, competence and loyalty is key to appointing ministers as President.

He stated, “In my case, I had a brother-in-law, the late Joseph Henry Mensah, who would help. From Kwame Nkrumah’s time, he [JH Mensah] laid Nkrumah’s seven-year development plan, a very accomplished economist, had worked with the United Nations, a real master of economic management, I married his sister, you think I would be the biggest fool, not to count myself lucky having this guy and say please stay in this thing and let’s think out solutions.”

“My younger brother Dr Addo Kufuor was already a Member of Parliament who’s very bright, very competent in many ways but a Physician specialist, but politically he was in Parliament before I became President […] I know him, I know his competence and how serious he is, so when I got the chance, to ensure that security which is a topmost priority for me be fixed so that I have peace of mind… I looked around and my brother was there, I told him to take the position and it worked very well for me,” Kufour added.

“It wasn’t nepotism, favouritism for my family. I was using the competency for my efficiency. The efficiency of the government needs very competent and reliable staffers,” he noted.

“Ofui Without Common Sense”; Presidential Staffer Tears Into Peace FM’s Fadda Dickson For Begging NDC

Published

on

A staffer at the seat of government, the Flagstaff House, Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe has descended heavily on the Managing director of Despite Media, Fadda Dickson for writing to beg the NDC to rescind their decision of boycotting Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning show.

The NDC officially severed ties with Peace FM’s flagship program, Kokrokoo a few months ago after their attempt to get the Station to withdraw their former Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs from the program failed.

Though veteran Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako alleged on the show last week that the NDC was begging behind the scenes to be allowed to return the show, the NDC issued a statement through their communication’s directorate that they had no intentions of returning to that show.

Following the NDC’s statement by Sammy Gyamfi, Peace FM issued a formal apology letter yesterday signed by their Managing Director, Fadda Dickson, begging the Party to let sleeping dogs lie.

However, it appears this move by the Managing Director of Peace FM to smoke the peace pipe with the NDC has not gone down well with a presidential staffer, who has described the revered director as “a man eluded by common sense”.

Fadda Dickson, Manager Director of Despite Media

In a Facebook post, Nii Teiko wrote, “First of all, the disagreement was not between NDC, as a corporate body, and Despite group, since NDC officials, including Sammy Gyamfi, still appear on other Despite platforms such as Neat-FM and OKay FM.

The issue was Sammy Gyamfi issuing a statement to insult and attack Kwame Sefa-Kayi and his production team, recently describing Sefa Kayi as a dictator and running an “over-hyped show”. Therefore, any sensible managing director who genuinely wants to resolve same must involve the two people. But, common sense eluded Fadda Dickson, the reason why he wrote and signed that letter without mentioning the insults and attacks on his own employees. Ofui !

Voter Roll Anomalies: Keep Calm JM, Jean Will Fix It – Gabby Tells Mahama

Published

on

Cousin of President Akufo-Addo, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has called for calm after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) raised concerns over some anomalies detected in the voters register.

The NDC have accused the Electroal Commission of deleting names of voters, particularly, in its strongolds from the register.

Addressing the Press on Thursday September 24, former president John Dramani Mahama stated that he’s unable to tell whether it’s incompetence or out of malice that the EC had taken names of eleigible voters from the register.

In reaction, Gabby called for calm as he believes the EC does not know which voter belongs to the NPP or NDC and will therefore fix the anomalies.

“The exhibition of the electoral roll is very much part of the process to ensure that the votes of you and me count. We do not use our party cards to register for the EC to know who’s NPP or NDC. Keep calm, JM. Jean will fix it,” he wrote on Facebook.
