Abena Durowaa Mensah, the NPP’s candidate for the Assin North Constituency has said that she will win the seat from the NDC even if they present their general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as candidate.
The Cape Coast High Court, on wednesday 28th July 2021, nullified the election of the election of the NDC’s James Gyaakye Quayson, and ordered for a fresh election in the constituency.
Though the NDC has indicated that they will challenge the ruling of the court, it looks likely that a by-election will be held in the constituency.
However, Abena Durowaa Mensah has insisted that she stands a high chance of winning that seat if only the NPP presents her as candidate.
“I will win hands down if NPP presents me for the by-election. Though I lost with over 2,000 votes in the 2020 election, I am hopeful that I will win with over 50 votes regardless of any candidate they bring on board. Even if they bring Joe Gyaakye Quayson, or Asiedu Nketia, I will still win because I am the people’s choice,” she said.
