“I Eat In Your House, Should I Also Recuse Myself?” – Justice Torkonoo Queries Tsikata After He Asked Judge To Recuse Himself

A Judge of the Supreme Court, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkonoo took a swipe at lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata yesterday in court when Mr Tsikata requested Justice Clemence Honyenuga to recuse himself.

Mr Tsikata raised a preliminary objection for Justice Honyenuga to recuse himself citing the close relationship he allegedly has with MP-ELECT for Hohoe, John Peter Amewu.

However, Justice Torkonoo who also has a close relationship with Me Tsikata and his family queried the renowned lawyer if she should also recuse herself.

According to her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, she has had several meals in Tsikata’s house over the years including kenkey fish, therefore she asked if she should also recuse herself.

The Supreme Court after a brief adjournment, rejected Tsatsu Tsikata’s objection. This was after deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame had argued against the objection, insisting it had no sound premise on law.

The Court is expected to deliver it’s ruling on the substantive motion today.
