I Did Not Work To Disenfranchise People Of Hohoe – Godfred Dame Explains
Attorney General and Justice Minister-designate, Godfred Yeboah Dame has distanced himself from the inability of some voters in Hohoe in the Volta Region to partake in the 2020 general elections.
It would be recalled that during the December polls, eligible voters in Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) in the Volta Region were only allowed to take part in the presidential election but could not vote in the parliamentary election because a constituency had not been created for them.
The residents took the matter to court demanding the enforcement of their fundamental human rights to vote.
After a Ho High Court granted an interim injunction restraining the Electoral Commission from gazetting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) John Peter Amewu as the Member of Parliament (MP) for elect for Hohoe, Godfred Dame who at the time was the Deputy Attorney-General, led the State to subsequently file a motion at the Supreme Court to fight the injunction and he won.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on Friday, the Attorney-General nominee who was answering a question if his action left the residents disenfranchised, said he did not.
“It will be unfair for any person to say that Ied the efforts for the people of Hohoe to be disenfranchised. If anything at all, the opposite is the case. I endured the preservation of the right of the people of Hohoe to vote. By dint of CI 128, the people of SALL have been placed in the Buem constituency and that is where they ought to vote, not the Hohoe constituency,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the EC has said it will take steps to create a new constituency in the Guan district when the 8th Parliament commences.
This was after the Commission could not hold elections for registered voters in the Guan District to elect a Member of Parliament due to the absence of a constituency.
In the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter, the apex court declared as null and void, the Ho High Court’s interim orders of injunction against the Electoral Commission from gazetting John Peter Amewu as Member of Parliament-elect for Hohoe; and for Mr. Amewu from parading himself as having been elected Member of Parliament.

Release All ‘Wee’ Smokers Now If You Can’t Jail Corrupt Politicians – A-Plus Fumes
Musician cum Politician, Kwame Asare Obeng also known as A-Plus has charged the Ghana Police to refrain from apprehending marijuana (wee) smokers and channel their energy on corrupt politicians.
In a post on Facebook he wondered why wee smokers are arrested while cigarrete smokers are made to walk freely meanwhile they both pose health risks.
He further bemoaned how a single individual has been jailed for corruption in recent times yet the youth keep wasting their years in jail just because they possessed wee.
See full post below:
“Stop arresting wee smokers!!!! Too many young people have wasted their lives in jail just because they were caught in possession of the leaf of a plant. This is 2021 and all human beings convicted of wee smoking must be released immediately. Corruption is more dangerous than wee smoking. However, not a single person has been jailed in this country for corruption.
“What sense dose it make for a policeman to meet two people, one smoking weed and the other smoking cigarette, but arrest the wee smoker while the cigarette smokers is allowed to walk free.
“The wee smokers they say will go mad and eventually die. The cigarette smokers will also die of smoking-related diseases.
“In fact, the dangers of cigarette smoking is even boldly written on the pack. So what is the point? Wee death is no different from cigarette death?“ Release all persons convicted of wee smoking now!!! This nonsense must stop immediately! Immediately!!!”

Legally, Mahama’s Petition Was Not Handled Well – Lawyer
Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Obiri Boahen has indicated that the lawyers for the petitioner in the ongoing 2020 Presidential polls did not help matters.
According to him the lawyers failed the petitioner in presenting a valid case before the court.
He furthered that witnesses for the petitioner also failed to convince the court with their statements.
“Lawyers of Mahama failed to prosecute the case well. That is the truth everyone is failing to speak. People are afraid to tell Mahama the truth. His lawyers failed to prosecute the case well. Legally speaking, the case was not well handled,” he was quoted by rainbowradioonline.
Lawyer Obiri Boahen however, noted that the EC could be summoned by Parliament to explain the errors in the Presidential results.

Video: Koku Anyidoho’s Wife Narrates How Koku Sacked Her From Their Home After The Death Of Their 9-Year Old Daughter
There seems to be a storm brewing in the home of former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho as his wife has emerged to accuse him of throwing her out of their matrimonial home.
Jennifer Boahemaa Yeboah told GhanaWeb in an exclusive interview yet to be aired on the #SayItLoud programme that, following months of emotional abuse and negligence from her husband, Mr Anyidoho sent her packing from their home.
It will be recalled that Madam Jennifer was involved in a car accident in November last year which resulted in the loss of their 8-year-old daughter.
She furthered that Mr Anyidoho abandoned her after the accident, taking away their only surviving son because he blamed her for the death of their daughter.
The estranged wife recounted to GhanaWeb, how shortly after being discharged from the hospital, while arrangements were being carried out for the burial of their daughter, the former NDC General Secretary sent bottles of schnapps to her parents in the company of some friends to dissolve their marriage after their marriage of about 6 years
She noted that her family took receipt of the drinks to be used as evidence when the two families formally met to deliberate on the matter.
Madam Jennifer told GhanaWeb that what broke the camel’s back was events that occurred on Tuesday, February 23. She noted that while she was away, Mr Anyidoho packed some of her belongings from their matrimonial home and sent it to her mother’s house in a KIA truck on her blind side.
“Sending an unknown driver to bring some of my things without anyone’s knowledge, and the marriage has not been dissolved officially, I don’t know what to say… I was there yesterday trying to sort out a few things at my new apartment when I got a call from my 78-year-old mother that a KIA truck is here with some few things that Anyidoho said they should bring it…” she told GhanaWeb.
Meanwhile, Mr Koku Anyidoho is yet to respond to the allegations. When GhanaWeb reached out to him, he was unavailable.
