Godfred Dame As Attorney General; Napo Out Of Education Ministry – Report Of Akufo-Addo’s Reduced Ministerial List

Published

on

The old is gone; all is set for new ministerial appointments. What will comprise this new administration and what numbers are we looking at?

Rumours are so far rife about a possible pruning of the previous administration comprising of 110 ministers and the number projected for this one is 70.

Of course, considering the general order of things, the poorly-performing ministers are more likely to be dropped whilst new ones are appointed to replace them.

Some names have already emerged as potential ministers under the newly formed Akufo-Addo-led administration, some of these include maintained ministers who may be moved to other ministries, some who may be maintained in their ministries and others who may be the freshers in the team.

Reshuffled ministers:

According to a Dailyguide newspaper report, former Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) may be swapping roles with John Peter Amewu who served as Energy Minister whilst Mr Amewu who is now the Hohoe MP moves to the Railways Ministry as substantive Minister.

This will leave Mr Opoku Prempeh’s position for his former Deputy, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum who was quite cooperative with the administration of his duties in his previous capacity.

Dan Botwe who was iconic with the reorganization and establishment of the 6 new regions as Regional Reorganisation and Development Minister is likely, per DailyGuide’s report, to be moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development which was previously occupied by Hajia Alima Mahama.

Samuel Atta Akyea who was Works and Housing Minister may be moved to the Environment Ministry as its Minister.

Retained Ministers:

For those who particularly left distinctive marks after their first term, they have been projected to retain their various ministerial appointments.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Roads Minister who spearheaded the Year of Roads project, Kwasi Amoako Atta has also been named, Communications and Information Ministers, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah respectively, have been mentioned for this category.

Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Food and Agriculture minister who spearheaded the Planting for Food and Jobs Policy, Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey also have their names emerging for retaining.

Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery, Interior Minister, Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison and Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah also made the speculated list as reported by DailyGuide.

It is still unknown, however, what the fate of Attorney General, Gloria Afua Akuffo will be moving forward; whether or not she will be maintained or if there even is any possibility of her being replaced by her deputy Godfred Dame who has become more popular in recent times.

Citi FM Journalist, Umaru Sanda Fires NDC Supporters For Their Insults – Takes A Swipe At Kevin Taylor

Published

on

Renowned broadcast Journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu has fired Supporters of the opposition NDC for their persistent attacks on him.

According to him, if the NDC Supporters had directed the same energy they are using to insult him into their campaign, they would have won enough seats in the 2020 elections, and the margins would have been ‘unriggable’.

Umaru Sanda also took a swipe at US-based Ghanaian Journalist, Kevin Taylor, who he described as a coward with a microphone.

In a Facebook post, Umaru Sanda wrote,

“Dear NDC Supporters,
If you had spent half the energy you’re using to insult me and other journalists on the campaigns of 2020, the party would have won at least, 138 seats with UNRIGABLE MARGINS so that this debate about MAJORITY and MINORITY wouldn’t arise.

By the way, despite all the insults you’ve heaped on me and my ethnic group, my skin is still as smooth as that of my brother, the Fulani NDC MP for Adenta.

I know the block-headed self-acclaimed journalist in unwarranted exile in the US doesn’t know that a Fulani blood is in Parliament on the NDC ticket. But of course, he’s an unintelligent coward with a microphone. That’s dangerous.

My NDC friends, let’s have an intellectual intercourse. You would find it more stimulating than the insults.

3y3 Zu!!!”

NDC Will Soon Be The Majority In Parliament – James Klutse Avedzi

Published

on

Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament James Klutse Averdzi has stated emphatically that their side will constitute the Majority side of the House in some few months to come.

His comments follow the position of the NPP that they now form the Majority Caucus.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin had ruled that the NPP MPs (137 members) together with the Independent MP for Fomena, Mr. Andrew Asiamah Amoako are now the Majority Group.

His ruling came after he read the official letter the Fomena MP wrote informing him of his decision to transact business with the NPP.

Later, the NPP held a press conference claiming to be the Majority Caucus in sharp contrast to what the Speaker had ruled.

The Deputy Leader of the NDC reacting refuted the claims.

According to him, the NPP was attempting to deceive the public and has since asked the media to inform the public on what the ruling was.

Mr. Averdzi added that the NDC was hopeful it will reclaim the Techiman South constituency seat and some other seats to constitute the proper Majority.

He wondered why the NPP was struggling to become the Majority and find comfort with the Independent MP.
