Elections 2020: CPP And Ivor Greenstreet Won’t Make Any Difference – Ben Ephson

Published

on

Pollster, Ben Ephson has insisted the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and their flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet won’t mae any difference in the December polls.

Speaking on CTV’s Dwabre Mu morning show on August 24, he said the party has over the years failed to garner even one percent of votes in all democratic elections held.

“I doubt the CPP will make any good showing in the 2020 polls,” he said.

Mr Ephson added, “If you add all the amount of votes the small parties get in their parliamentary elections, their presidential candidates don’t get any of that because the electorate say voting for the flagbearers of the small parties is tantamount to wasting their ballot, so, they’d rather vote for their parliamentary candidates and vote for the presidential candidates of either the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)”, he analysed.

In Mr Ephson’s estimation, “If the CPP gets two per cent of the 2020 ballots, they would have done very well”, adding: “The truth is just one”.

The CPP over the weekend reelected their 2016 presidential candidate, Ivor Greenstreet to lead them again in the December 2020 polls.

‘Nonchalant’ Akufo-Addo Aiding Activities Of ‘Western Togolanders’ – Sammy Gyamfi

Published

on

National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has admonished President Akufo-Addo for pampering and aiding the activities of secessionist group, Western Togoland.

According to him, the President has failed to show commitment in clamping down the activities of the group like how he deployed army to the Volta region just because of a voters registration exercise.

“The reason why their(secessionists) activities are fast festering and spiraling beyond our control is because the Akufo Addo government has been pampering these criminals. Their approach so far has been very lukewarm and lackluster, nonchalant it’s like they don’t care about what is happening.

“We were all in this country during the voter registration exercise which was conducted between June and August this year. When it suited their political agenda we saw the kind of military men they deployed to the Volta Region under the guise of the COVID-19 fight. Since these secessionists activities have been going on in the Volta Region we have not seen government display the same level of seriousness in the deployment of the military and other security agencies to fish these criminals out and deal with them drastically in accordance with the law. So they are being pampered and aided that is why their activities are festering.

Residents Of Volta Region Accuse Government Of Masterminding Western Togoland Incident Yesterday

Published

on

Some residents of the Volta Region have expressed their doubts about the Western Togoland secessionists incident that occurred yesterday, accusing the government of masterminding the incident for political purposes.

Members of the Volta separatist, the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) on Friday dawn blocked some roads in the Volta Region of Ghana as a means to express their agitation for independence from Ghana.

The group was also reported to have attacked two police stations in the North Tongu Constituency, stripping policemen on duty naked, and making away with weapons.

However, speaking to Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show on the issue, Happy FM’s Volta Regional correspondent, Ivan Midorse, disclosed that some residents with “political eye” are of the view that the ruling government is involved in this action to prevent the people in the Volta Region from voting in this year’s election.

Meanwhile, Ivan notes that residents who are in support of the road blockage and are in jubilation are more than those who are against the movement.

“Those who are in support of the movement are actually happy it is happening but those who are not in support of it are not happy about what is happening. The people who are in support of this are probably more than those who are against it”, he added.

You Said Free SHS Was A Hoax, How Do You Expand It? Bawumia Asks Mahama

Published

on

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has quizzed National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama for promising he’ll expand the free senior high school policy to private schools.

Speaking on Nimdie FM in Sunyani on Thursday, Dr. Bawumia slammed the former president for saying the free shs was impossible and a hoax but now seek to benefit from it.

“How can you say you will expand Free SHS when you did not believe in it?” Dr. Bawumia asked Mahama.

“Mahama said Free SHS is a hoax. He said it was 419 and he said it is impossible. But after President Akufo-Addo successfully implemented it for the benefit of Ghanaians, he is now going round telling Ghanaians that he will expand it to private schools if Ghanaians vote for him.”

“When Nana Akufo-Addo said he would implement Free SHS to make sure every child goes to school for free, Mahama told Ghanaians that it wasn’t possible and if he had 2 billion cedis, he would not invest it in Free SHS.”
