Ejura Clash: When You Make Ghanaians Realise That They Don’t Matter, Their Frustrations Build Up – Prof Aning

Professor Kwesi Aning, Director at the Faculty of Academic Affairs & Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre says the violence at Ejura could only be the beginning of what could escalate across the country.

Speaking to Joy News, he said is a representation of a widespread sentiment of frustration harboured over the period by Ghanaians.

“Ejura is only a symbolic representation of the frustrations across this country. Quite a number of our own leaders have spoken about youth frustration, unemployment, as a toxic mix. Ejura has demonstrated that we’ve now moved from the rhetoric of seeming to be concerned…”

“When the State and its representatives over time, signal to people, that they don’t matter, it contributes to building frustrations,” he said.

His comment comes after Kaaka was killed by a mob triggering a response from the youth of Ejura who have been demanding justice for the young activist.

This led to a clash between the Ejura youth and the military with some sustaining injuries and two confirmed dead.
