EC Selling Ghana’s Democracy – Ayariga Bemoans Increase In Presidential Filing Fees

Founder and Leader of All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga has bemoaned the 100% increment of filing fee by the Electoral Commission to GHC100,000.

Speaking to TV3, the presidential candidate slammed the commission for increasing the fees on its own accord without consulting the necessaary stakeholders including IPAC or the advisory Committee of the EC.

He wondered how the average Ghanaian can raise such amount of money to be able to contest as President.

He told TV3, “for me, I think that democracy now is for sale and not about competency anymore. It’s about those who have money and can afford and mount a campaign or contest a presidential election.”
