Dr. Dominic Ayine Dragged Before Disciplinary Committee Of General Legal Council For Criticizing Supreme Court

NDC MP for Bolga East, and former deputy attorney general, Dr. Dominic Ayine has been dragged before the disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council following his criticism of the Ghana Supreme Court.

Dr. Ayine, while speaking last month at a CDD-Ghana Roundtable Discussion on Presidential Election Petitions and their impact on African Democracy, criticized the Supreme Court for failing to follow due procedure in their handling of the 2020 Presidential Election Petition.

Dr. Ayine, in his address questioned the manner in which the Apex Court repeatedly dismissed applications brought before it by the Petitioner in the 2020 Election Petition.

The former deputy AG also suggested that the Supreme Court may not be as independent as it ought to be.

His comments appear to have landed him in trouble as he has now been summoned by the regulatory body of the legal profession in the country to explain his comments.
