The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has advised politicians to stop visiting polling or registration centers with the intention of resolving issues.

The commission on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, encouraged citizens with any problem in relation to the new voters card registration exercise to contact the right people such as the Commissions district review committees to solve the issues.

This was after a Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East, Hon. Hawa Koomson fired gunshots at a registeration center in Kasoa, in the Central Region over a misunderstanding.

There had been lots of people calling for the resignation of the Member of Parliament. However, police have invited the MP to assist in investigations as four people have also been arrested in connection to the incident.

Citing another incident was when the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah despite testing positive for the deadly coronavirus had to visit a registration center to solve a grievance.

The Chairperson for the Electoral Commission reiterated that no politician or Ghanaian should visit any center with the notion of solving any grievance.

She said, they are policemen at each center and such if there is any problem with any individual, they should draw the attention of the police to it.
