Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has said that Ghana’s fight against corruption has been massively boosted by the country’s digitalization drive.

While addressing civil servants recently in Accra, Dr. Bawumia stated that through the Ghana Card for instance, SSNIT has been able to detect and delete over 6000 ghost names from its database.

The Vice President said this has saved the Country about 320 million cedis.

According to him, the implementation of a digitized system at the National Service Scheme enabled the scheme to detect ghost names of tens of thousands in just one region.

Dr. Bawumia continued that from the ports, the DVLA, NHIS and so on, available data suggests a significant reduction in corrupt practices as a result of digitalization.

The Vice President, who has spearheaded the country’s digitalization agenda has assured that the country is headed towards the right direction.

Dr. Bawumia reiterated that the digitalization drive has shown that the fight against corruption is not about threats but by putting in place the right systems as government is doing.
