Chief Justice Sophia Akufo-Addo , the chairperson  of the Board of Trustees of the COVID-19 National Trust Fund says managers of  the Fund  have spent over GH¢32 million out of the total GH¢53 million donations received by the Fund.

The Chief Justice made this known at an occasion when Personal Protective Equipment( PPE’s) and other medical equipment were being donated to some treatment centres in the country.

Madam Akufo- Addo lamented on the need for more donations and aid since the Fund has used more than half of its money.

“To date, the Trust Fund has spent approximately GHS 32,581,233.90 out of the total amount of 53 million cedis received so far. We need vehicles for care and testing centres, PPE including more veronica buckets and touch-free sanitizer dispensers,” she pleaded.

Madam Akufo whilst receiving a Gh¢5-million donation with PPE’s from telecommunication giant MTN said, “We have not even been able to reach the private medical centres. We have not been able to be able to directly reach the municipalities and districts. We got so many applications from districts concerning their CHPS compound which we must not forget.”

She revealed that, they are yet to meet the conditions of all frontline workers in the country especially at the Municipal and District levels.

Madam Akufo-Addo  urged all to donate in supporting the combat against COVID-19 as there are still many demands for the PPE’s by health facilities in the country.
