Cedi Arrest: Who Did the IGP Give the Key To? – Kwesi Pratt Asks Bawumia

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has bemoaned the ruling NPP’s failure to address rampant fuel hikes.

According to him, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia prior to the 2016 elections strongly campaigned on reducing fuel prices and dealing with the cedi to dollar exchange rate.

However, years into governance and he has failed to honour his word.

Dr Bawumia had said that he had arrested the cedi and given the key to the IGP.

Pratt therefore wondered the continuous spike in the exchange rates despite the Vice President’s claim that he has dealt with it. He questioned who the IGP might have handed the keys over to when it was ‘arrested’.

We were told by Dr Bawumia that he knows how to deal with that problem, has he dealt with that problem?, he told us he had arrested the cedi and given the key to the IGP and so on. Who went and took the key from the IGP? Who did the IGP give the key to?” Kwesi Pratt quizzed.
