National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has expressed worry over the suspension of Captain Smart, journalist with Angel FM.

Speaking on Good evening Ghana on Thursday May 6, Captain Smart disclosed how the CEO of Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), Kofi Acheampong called him on phone complaining bitterly about continuous pressure being piled on him.

According to him, some persons within the corridors of power had met at a coffee shop in Labone to discuss actions to take against him with claims that he has become too loud and making some persons unpopular.

He was eventually taken off air after the introduction to his show on T=the morning of Thursday May 6 and received his suspension later that day.

Reacting to this on Facebook, Sammy Gyamfi bemoaned how big wigs under the government have become intolerant to criticism and allowing a return of culture of silence.

“Just learning that the host of Angel FM’s Morning Show, Captain Smart, has been taken off air due to pressure from certain higher-ups in the intolerant Akufo-Addo government.

“Apparently, these NPP bigwigs are not enthused with how critical the journalist has become of the failed Akufo-Addo regime in recent time. This typifies the culture of silence that is fast creeping back into our body politics under the watch of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia,” , Sammy Gyamfi wrote.

He furthered: “The C.E.O and management of Angel Broadcasting Limited must bow their heads down in shame.”
