Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic, has generated quite a stir with his recent speech on the country’s transition to a digital economy.
He praised his government as the government with the most industries founded on its multiple achievements, speaking at Asheshi University today. He claimed that the government’s name has been enhanced by the centerpiece One District One Factory program.
The Vice President also praised the government’s efforts to change the economy into a digital one, and urged young people to participate actively in the transformation. His speech appears to have elicited mixed emotions from Ghanaians on both sides of the political divide. Some people have praised him, while others have chastised him for broken promises.
Kow Essuman, a legal adviser to the President and a key figure in the New Patriotic Party, has reacted to Dr. Bawumia’s speech. He praised him for his concise speech and efforts to establish Ghana’s presence in the new world of technology.
He said in a post on his official Facebook page that Dr. Bawumia’s speech will imperil former President John Dramani Mahama’s ambitions to run for president again. Bawumia, he claims, has shamed his critics who have been spreading lies about his government.
Mr. Mahama is undoubtedly working hard to gain the support of his party’s officials in order to head the party. During his statements on the Thank You tour, his goals were quite obvious. Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, on the other hand, has seized the opportunity for Mahama, according to Kow Essuman, with his talk on the state of the economy.
He wrote, “From the way, Dr. Bawumia is going, John Dramani Mahama may remain the only one term President in the 4th Republic..”
