Alban Bagbin Must Declare Absentee MPs Seats Vacant – Political Scientist

Nii Amarh Amartey, a political scientist, has requested Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to declare truant Members of Parliament’s seats empty.

Mr. Amartey told Lily Mohammed on Starr Today Wednesday that it is sad that the Minority is attempting to hinder the process of sanctioning the absentee MPs.

“Their seats should be declared empty; I don’t believe we should accept their reasons for thwarting the Speaker’s attempts; no, it should not be tolerated.”

“What is wrong is wrong, and it makes no difference who did it.” We will never accomplish anything if we do things while looking at individual faces. What Muntaka is doing is a method he is employing just to protect the individual’s face. So that when it’s his turn tomorrow, and I pray it’s not, they’ll fight for him as well.”

“I don’t think Speaker Bagbin should even bring the case to the Privileges Committee,” he said, “I think Speaker Bagbin should crack the whip immediately and proclaim those seats vacant.”
