Akufo Addo Deserves 95% Votes for His Fulfilled Promises – Asenso Boakye

Published

on

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Bantama constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye has urged residents of his constituency to massively cast their votes for President Akufo Addo in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony to commence the construction of the Kokoso-Asuboteng area roads within the Bantama constituency on Thursday, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency insisted the Akufo Addo led government is committed to fulfilling all its promises as already demonstrated.

He said, “we have demonstrated that the NPP government has the best interest of the Ashanti region at heart, and we are going to do more to alleviate the plights of our people.”

“In 2016 when then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo promised to implement his flagship programmes, such as the Free SHS, One District One Factory, among others, the NDC and John Mahama said they he could not fulfil them, but today, we all bear witness to the fulfillment of these interventions that have brought great relief to all Ghanaians. So if we gave Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP 88% of total votes in 2016 here in Bantama, I believe it is fair to say that he deserves 95% of votes in 2020 for fulfilling all those promises made to us in 2016.”

Asenso Boakye added, “The importance of good roads extends to all aspects of development of our communities as it contributes to the provision of jobs, access to healthcare and education services, among others. Had the NPP won in 2008, this road would have been long completed but it was neglected by the previous NDC administration. Today, we all bear witness to the visionary leadership of the President Akufo-Addo that has led the implementation of Free SHS policy, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District, One Factory; and the setting up of a vehicle assembling plant by automobile giant VW in Ghana, among others.”

Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta who was also present disclosed that, “out of the total 80,000km road networks in the country, only 23% had seen some construction when the NPP took office in January 2017. However, I can boldly say that there are ongoing road constructions in all 260 district assemblies in the country.”

I Can’t Be Compared To Mahama Who Cuts Sods Without Funding – Akufo-Addo

Published

on

President Akufo Addo has in a subtle jab stated he is not like former president John Dramani Mahama who goes about cutting sods for projects without funds secured.

Cutting sod for the construction of the 71.25-kilometre Enchi to Elubo road, as part of his 3-day tour of the Western North Region on Friday September 25, the President noted he only cut sods when all the process have been completed with the money available.

“When I came here a year ago, I assured the Chiefs and people that I will work hard to ensure that the Enchi to Elubo road commences. There were a number of processes, like the contractor and funding sources, that had to be completed before today’s ceremony could take place. All those processes have been successfully completed”

He continued, “I am not like some people who rush to cut sods without securing the requisite funding for the projects. I will never do that. When I cut the sod, it means all the processes have been completed and the money for the project is available. I am not out to deceive anyone.”

Western Togoland Protest Is A Diversionary Tactic By Gov’t To Take Attention Off Voter Roll Anomalies – MP

Published

on

Member of Parliament for Builsa North Constituency, James Agalga has accused the government of being behind the Western Togoland protest which happened in the Volta region this dawn.

According to him, it is an attempt to divert attention from the much talked about voter register anomalies which the EC is attempting to disenfranchise many Ghanaians.

He told Ghanaweb, “Curiously enough, only yesterday, the main opposition leader President Mahama addressed a major press conference and outlined a number of grievances in respect of this voter exhibition exercise. There has been a massive deletion of names of Ghanaians from the voters roll. President Mahama drew the attention of the whole world to these happenings only yesterday, now this morning, we are hearing of an attack, 2 police stations have been attacked. It seems to me that this particular move is a diversionary tactic”.

“The coincidence is mindboggling that the inability of our national security to gather intelligence in respect of the intention of those bandits to cause trouble in the Volta region is something that needs to be engaged in the attention of all”.

“Nothing poses danger to our national security than the deletion of the names of Ghanaians from the voters roll. We had issues of the military deployed to the Volta region to prevent Ghanaians from registering…this a ploy on the part of the security agency to cause further deployment in that part of the country and to intimidate our people in a manner that will discourage them from coming out to vote in the December elections. These are all matters that need to be interrogated properly,” he added.

It Was Needless To Call For Int’l Observers, We Run Our Elections Without Them – Mahama Slammed

Published

on

Political Pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA),has criticised National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama for caliing on International Observers to come down to the country immediately.

This comes after the former president expressed displeasure over activities of the Electoral Commission.

“I wish to appeal to the international community, international election observers and our domestic observers; given all that has gone amiss with the electoral process and the likelihood of continued greater challenges ahead of this year’s elections, I will want to urge them to focus their lenses on Ghana and arrive earlier in the country than ever before. This will enable them to engage the EC, IPAC and all stakeholders as part of efforts to resolve these major problems with the register,” he said at a press briefing on Thursday, September 24, 2020.

In reaction, the LMVCA told Starr FM that the call was unnecessary because the EC had already admitted its flaws and have assured it’ll fix them.

He added that Ghana has been running its elections without international observers therefore their presence here won’t be needed.
