Akufo-Addo Appointees Can Survive The Next 10yrs Without Salaries Because They’ve Stolen So Much

Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Samson Tambongu Chiragia says the President is only throwing dust in the eyes of Ghanaians by taking a 30% pay cut of his appointees.

According to him, if the President and his appointees can take 30% off their salaries in this extremely difficult times, considering the fact that salaries in Ghana are nothing to write home about, then it is evident that they’ve milked the nation enough.

Speaking on Bolgatanga-based A1 radio he said monies stolen by appointees of this government can take them through the next ten years even if they stop taking salaries.

“We all agree in Ghana our salaries are not good. So if they can reduce their salary by 30% it goes to confirm that they have robbed this country enough. As for them for the next 10 years, they can even live without salaries,” he intimated.

Hon Tambongu however wants proper accounts rendered for the 30% pay cut to ensure Ghanaians are not swindled.

“They should tell you for a year how much we will get from that 30% that the appointees are losing. Apart from that is just a normal story that they try to just put dust into people’s eyes. You cannot be flying jet everywhere and you think that you can go and reduce your salary by 30%,” he added.

His comment comes after President Akufo-Addo announced a 30% pay cut for all his appointees including himself to mitigate the impact of the economic hardship which has led the country to the International Monetary fund for the 17th time.
