The Finance Minister designate, Ken Ofori-Atta has rejected allegations of wrongdoing on the part of government in Appointing the law firm of Mr Gabby Otchere Darko as one of the Advisers in the Agyapa deal.

Answering questions before the Appointments Committee of Parliament, the finance Minister designate insisted that even though he personally did not take part in the process, he is confident that no wrongdoing was committed.

“Mr Chairman, I think that the process was fair as far as I know, because I did not participate personally participate in all of that, the transaction was done appropriately and I believe the AG was quite comprehensive in assessing whether the right thing was done or not.

“Whatever needs to be done, was done. I mean, I truly do not think that anything was done wrongly. I believe things were done appropriately and therefore, maybe an AG opinion will be helpful to you,” he informed the Appointments Committee.

Mr Ofori-Atta explained that the government actually appointed a foreign law firm, and this law firm also decided to appoint local law firms to assist with work, leading to the appointment of Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah and Africa Legal Associates.
