Agayapa Deal: NPP Will One Day Sell Ghana If Not Booted Out In 2020 Polls — Sammy Gyamfi

Published

on

The National Communication Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has wade into the Agyapa Royalties deal.

According to him in a statement, ‘the Special Prosecutor found out what the NDC and many patriotic CSOs have always known about the stinking Agyapa Deal”.

He went on to say that Ghanaians cannot give the NPP another four more years to steal more from the state. He went ahead to mention some of the scandals of the NPP including BostGate, PDS, AMERI among others.

He warned that if this criminal enterprise [NPP] will one day sell Ghana itself hence the need to boot them out coming December 7th.

Below is his full statement;

Folks, the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has only found out what we in the NDC, and many patriotic CSOs like IMANI, ISODEC, PIAC, ASEPA, GII, IDEG, and others, have always known about the stinking “Agyapa” Deal.

The NDC has maintained throughout, that the “Agyapa” deal is laden with illegalities, greed, corruption, cronyism and state-capture. This is why the NDC minority boycotted the approval of the deal in Parliament. And this is why, our leader, H.E John Dramani Mahama and the party have vehemently opposed the deal right from the outset.

The fact that President Akufo-Addo has affirmed his confidence in his cousin the Finance Minister, even in the face of overwhelming evidence of corruption against him, confirms his complicity in this whole “Agyapa” heist. We in the NDC are not in the least surprised by this, because this is exactly what nepotism does to a country. It weakens the will and ability of leaders to crack the whip on their errant and corrupt appointees. Fact is, nepotism and corruption are inseparable bed-fellows. The former will always breed the latter.

What we should be interested in as a country at this stage, is for President Akufo-Addo to first and foremost, retrieve for the state, the billions of taxpayers monies that have been paid to Databank, which is owned by his cousin and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta and African Legal Associates, which is owned by another cousin of his, Gabby Otchere Darko and their cronies under the “Agyapa” transaction. Since the deal is null and void for illegality, all payments made under same to Databank, African legal associates and their cronies are void and must be refunded to the state. You cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand (nemo dat quod non habet). We need our money now!

Secondly, if President Akufo-Addo has any integrity left, he must suspend with immediate effect, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, his Deputy, Charles Adu Boahen and all his officials who are directly or indirectly involved in the stinking “Agyapa” heist, pending criminal investigations into the scandal. Procurement rigging and money laundering are serious crimes which cannot be addressed by Parliament but rather, our criminal justice system. That is what any truly incorruptible President will do under the circumstances. Don’t forget, that some people are currently languishing in jail for similar procurement breaches.

In fact, I wonder why the OSP has not charged the finance minister and his deputy for their violation of the Public Procurement Law yet? The OSP is mandated by law to investigate and prosecute among other offenses, procurement breaches. So What is Martin Amidu waiting for?

Friends, there is no gainsaying the fact that, the “Agyapa” deal is a serious indictment on the integrity and judgment of President Akufo-Addo, his government, the NPP and all their surrogates who supported the deal, in spite of the existence of overwhelming evidence that showed that the deal was fraught with illegalities, cronyism, greed, thievery and corruption.

The call by President Akufo-Addo to have this matter deferred until after the elections clearly shows that he has no interest in safeguarding the resources of this country and has not given up on this “Agyapa” heist yet. All he dreams of is four more years to steal more and advance his family’s rape of the nation’s resources.

Certainly, Akufo Addo and the NPP cannot be trusted with another mandate to protect and manage the resources of this country. We cannot give them four more years, to steal more from the state. First, it was the BOSTGATE scandal, then the AMERI novation scandal, then came PDS scam, then PPA Contracts for sale scandal, and now Agyapa. This criminal enterprise will one day sell Ghana itself if they are not booted out of office on 7th December, 2020.

May God bless the NDC Minority and all CSOs and media personalities who courageously stood against this broad-daylight “Agyapa” heist. Future generations will salute our diligence and patriotism.

Court Throws Out Rastafarian Student’s Injunction Against Achimota School

Published

on

The Rastafarian student, Tyrone Marghuy who was denied admission by the Achimota senior high school for his hairstyle, has had his injunction against the school dismissed by the Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court.

The court, presided over by Justice Gifty Agyei Addo said the applicant failed procedurally on both interim injunctions which were to last for 10 days or interlocutory injunction which was to last throughout the hearing of the case.

The injunction sought the court to order Achimota School to admit the applicant for him to attend classes pending the final determination of the substantive matter.

However, the court noted that it cannot grant the injunction because such a decision will prejudice the outcome of the case because the respondents have not been put on notice.

Were You Expecting Bagbin To Appoint His Enemies As Advisors? – Asiedu Nketia Asks Kyei Mensah Bonsu

Published

on

General Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has hit back at the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for his accusations against the Speaker Alban Bagbin.

Speaking on The Probe, Mr Nketia wondered if the Majority Leader expected the Speaker to be appoint his opponents to be his advisors.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu in an interview on Sunday, April 4, expressed worry over how Speaker Bagbin has selected one too many members of the NDC to his office as advisors.

He also expressed displeasure with the selection of Mr Aseidu Nketia as a member of the Parliamentary Service Board.

Explaining that he did not have a problem with Aseidu Nketia as a person but the fact that he still holds his position as a General Secretary of the NDC.

In the Suame legislator’s view, Speaker Alban Bagbin was gradually turning the House into an enclave for the NDC.

But according to the NDC General Secretary, the rules governing the land give the Speaker discretion to appoint who he would want to work with, and they must be people he shares similar ideologies with.

“Before, Speaker Bagbin came, what was Parliament? Was it [not] an enclave of NPP? Because the former Speaker was NPP and all the former MPs who should be on the Parliamentary Board were all from NPP leadership.

“I do not want to believe that the workers or the advisors at the time were from CPP. So if they were all NPP at the time and now you have another Speaker, I am wondering if Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was expecting [Speaker] Bagbin to appoint his opponents to advise him,” he stated.

To butress his point, Mr Asiedu Nketia, citing President Akufo-Addo’s appointees on the Council of State claimed not a single nominee is a member of the opposition NDC.

As such, it will be hypocritical on the part of the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to make such assertions against the leader of the Legislature, he believes.

“I am worried about people who cannot use parity of reasoning; when something suits them they argue in a certain way. They can argue that is paper is white, then the next day the same people will be arguing that this paper is black or blue.

“That is not the way to build credibility,” he said categorically.

We Can’t Win 2024 Even If We Present Kuffuor As Flagbearer – NPP Founding Member, Kwame Pianim

Published

on

A founding member of the NPP, Kwame Pianim has expressed disappointment in the internal struggle within the Party just few months after winning an election that extended their mandate.

Speaking on TV3’s ‘The Key Points’ on Saturday, 10th April, Mr Pianim said this internal struggle has the power to the send the NPP back to opposition.

According to him, whoever is chosen as flagbearer of the Party will depend on the performance of President Akufo-Addo to win the election.

He said further that if President Akufo-Addo fails to meet expectations, the NPP cannot win 2024 even if they present former president Kuffuor as flagbearer.

He therefore wondered why people are busy fighting over who becomes the next flagbearer when the efforts should rather be on helping President Akufo-Addo to deliver on his mandate.
