A member of the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti regional communications team, Daniel Teiko, has pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to relieve state ministers with presidential ambitions from duty after he has fired Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta.

Mr. Teiko, in an interview on Wontumi TV, stated that the move initiated by some NPP Members of Parliament for the immediate resignation of Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister for Finance and Hon. Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry was good and a step in the right direction.

He also pleaded with ministers of state with presidential ambition to honor calls on them to resign from office so that government business can easily move on.

So far, Hon. Kwadwo Alan Kyeremanten, Minister for Trade and Industry and Hon Afriyie Akoto, Minister for Food and Agriculture, have expressed interest in contesting for the flagbearer position of the NPP but haven’t resigned from office.

The National Executive body of the New Patriotic Party is urging calm between all stakeholders of the party following calls by the Majority Caucus of Parliament for the immediate resignation of Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister for Finance and Hon. Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

In the release signed by the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Stephen Ayesu Ntim, he stated that “the leadership of the party is currently engaging Government as well as the Parliamentary Group, and urges all stakeholders to remain calm as it seeks an amicable resolution to the impasse”.
