The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-panin has urged authorities to leave the country’s gold for future generation.

According to him, he has not seen what the Ghanaian people have benefitted from gold mining after 100-years because we have failed to put it to prudent use.

The Okyenhene stated this when the sector Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, paid a courtesy call on him on Thursday, May 27 as part of his two-day tour of the Eastern Region.

“As it is now, everybody is doing what they want and we can’t fight the fight (against illegal mining) with everything going on like this. And I’ve said to you guys that, left with me, we should leave it for future generations. Because we have mined for over a hundred and something years and I, in particular, don’t see what we have been able to benefit.”
