The late Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu‘s family has received support from legendary footballer Abedi Ayew Pele and his wife, Maya Ayew.

The Ayew family and their spokesperson, Fiifi Tackie, went to the player’s family home to console them when the body of the deceased winger was delivered.

Christian Atsu‘s body, which was found in the ruins after an earthquake in Turkey on February6, arrived in Ghana in the wee hours of Sunday.

Before he was discovered dead, the 31-year-old was trapped in his wrecked apartment for more than a week.

The winger who won the 2015 AFCON’s best player award has not yet had his burial or funeral arrangements announced by the family.

Andre Dede Ayew previously released a statement in which he offered his sincere sympathies to the family and paid honor to his deceased national team teammate.

To honor his deceased friend, Jordan Ayew also wore a shirt that read, “RIP Atsu.”
